December 12, 2004—in memory of Jackson Mac Low
Remorse of being, of not being there
I light the Hanukkah candles—
He brought visible order to chance
He let poetry happen
He ushers us to the present
December eighth, two-thousand and four
We love the whole world for its very uselessness
The poem has fallen asleep, Jackson
Wake it up!
